How can I start to respect for religion?

Ok first of all forget about the people involved in religious violence. Religion is between you and God, not between you and the followers. Some people tend to follow religion in a wrong way and start wars, but they are wrong. If you are really interested in becoming religious, I suggest you read the history of Christianity and Islam and why were they both founded and choose a religion that makes the most sense to you, and completely ignore the wrongdoings of their followers.
